Plett Villas during the time of COVID-19

I am sure that just as I am, you are all longing to step onto one of Plett’s beautiful beaches, dig your toes into the sand and immerse yourself in the beautiful ocean. The time will come; for now, worldwide we all have had to deal with the situation as it develops. The tourism industry, as with many others, has been put under huge strain.

I have learnt a lot about crisis management these past weeks, and about adapting to situations out of one’s control, whilst always keeping in mind being responsible to our community. Taking into consideration SATSA’s meetings and other info from professionals, we swiftly made decisions, introduced temporary policies, home management arrangements and set up off-site offices. Our staff were fantastic and supportive, and we are aiming at looking after them as best we can.

We handled cancellations fairly and professionally and we are very pleased that some of our clients have opted to re-book within 15 months, which was a policy we immediately put in place. Should clients wish to book from May to November we have also relaxed our policy and the deposit will be refunded up until 35 x days prior to arrival should a client need to cancel. Our peak season (December and January) is the lifeblood of our business and as it currently stands it is business as usual with regards bookings for peak, however, we are open to assist and make suggestions that are a win-win for everyone should this be required. We are available on email and cell throughout lockdown and are keeping the momentum going. We want to be eager, prepared and organized when this is all over to deal effectively with inquiries and bookings.

I am sure we will all want to live life to the fullest when this is over and keep tourism alive in South Africa. I hope this will be an opportunity for us all to explore this beautiful country we call home. We will be running our winter specials until the end of September and perhaps extend them through to October - November depending on circumstances to encourage local travel. We have some stunning properties available for peak and we know that everyone loves Plett Summer!
